One institute I served was decommissioned behind me. The rest of the original crew scattered across other ships. I logged thirteen years of operational duty: double shifts, twelve-hour nights, flood forecasts, dawn broadcasts, road information, GIS data, live systems — and eventually watched a decade of spreadsheets give way to a platform I designed and built myself.
Somewhere along that route, writing software stopped being a tool for doing my job.
It became the job.
Current heading: Vienna. Propulsion: Python, FastAPI, distributed and event-driven systems. Telemetry: nominal. Message broker: connected. Cargo — curiosity — intact.
